2013 Senate Memos

S389 - Requires all occupants to wear safety belts when riding in the rear seat of a motor vehicle.

S393-A1427 - Relates to the removal of vehicles, cargo, and debris from a roadway by police or other public officers to speed the clearance of traffic lanes.

S394-A1415 - Requires the driver of a vehicle involved in a motor vehicle crash involving no personal injury or death to move the vehicle to a safe location, provided that the vehicle is operable and can be moved to a safe location.

S752 - Establishes the crime of aggravated reckless driving and provides that such crime shall be a class E felony.

S1511-A2723 - Prohibits the use of hands-free mobile telephones by learners permit holders.

S1913 - Establishes a mileage based numbering system for exits along interstate highways in New York.

S2268 - Enables policyholders enrolled in the "Combat Auto Theft" (C.A.T.) program to receive automobile insurance premium reductions.

S2472-A520 - Requires the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) to conduct an economic impact statement prior to increasing bridge and tunnel tolls.

S2484 - Directs the Commissioner of motor Vehicles to establish a "Yellow DOT" program, which in the event of a motor vehicle crash or other emergency, makes available the medical and emergency contact information of motoro vehicle occupants aged 55 or older to emergency personnel in the glove compartment of a vehicle.

S2843-A99 - Dedicates money collected from surcharges imposed on motorists who illegally pass a stopped school bus to establish a public education program to educate drivers of the dangers of passing a school bus.

S3033-A4597 - Creates a class E felony for acting as a "runner" in a fraudulent insurance claim.

S3547 - Relates to crime of staging a motor vehicle accident and creates crimes of staging a motor vehicle accident in the first, second, and third degrees; provides the crime is a class B felony if an uninvolved party is injured.
