Nassau County Safety Patroller
Recognized
A Nassau County fifth
grader, who mentors a first-grade student with special needs, has been named
AAA's Patroller of the Year by AAA New York. Patrick Brady assists a first-grade
student at dismissal, helping him to pack his belongings. He then escorts him to
his bus line and then to the bus.
Peter Carlson, the Cross Street School safety patrol supervisor, states:
"Patrick is an extremely dedicated patroller. He has impacted the lives of
many people around him."
Patrick is scheduled to join safety patrol winners from other AAA clubs in
early May at the 2008 awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. The event coincides
with New York State's observance of AAA School Safety Patrol Week, May 4th -
10th.
Besides his role as a safety patroller, Patrick is involved with Enviro-squad,
Intramurals, First Grade Helpers and Student Athletes at his school. He also
volunteers for an after-school socialization program for students with autism.
"Safety Patrol is a way to help children get home from school safely.
This year, I asked to be a volunteer in safety patrol and work with one special
child (with special needs). He has helped me to become a better leader."
